Coming soon! This project consists of the construction of a new 9,300 SF building in the Big Marsh park in the South Deering neighborhood of Chicago. Poor soil conditions will require the use of H pile and grade beam foundations, as well as structural slabs. The building is to be framed using nail-laminated timber, glulam columns and beams, and clad in a rain screen system with a panelized weathered steel finish. Other interesting details include light monitors that will create double height spaces on the interior, hydraulic screen doors that reveal windows beyond, and a wastewater wetland system as an alternative to connecting to the Chicago sewer system.
